The Next Steps...

It has been just over a month now since NorthBound Productions welcomed its very first audience into its very first full-scale production: INSIDE VOICE. This one-act play about isolation and intrusive thoughts went down an absolute treat with our sold-out audience at the King's Arms in Salford, and we could hardly believe the positive reception after the show. We were so delighted with all the positive feedback we received, and we were even more excited to hear people asking the ever-present questions: "What's next for NorthBound?"

And, oh boy, do we have answers. Over the last few weeks, we have been in discussions with a wonderfully talented writer, who came to us through our first Collaborative Readthrough, about staging one of his plays in a local theatre. That is very much in the works for later this year. At the same time as this, we will be working on our very first project for the screen. We are about to announce a short screenplay competition, with the winners getting their script turned into a serious of reels by a wonderful, collaborative cast and crew. It's bound to be a great opportunity for all involved to develop their skills and have a piece of media to be proud of at the end of it all.

Last, but certainly not least, we are aiming to continue our workshops as regularly as possible. Our aim is to maintain the high quality, collaborative energy that we have been able to create so far, encouraging all types of creatives to come together and make something amazing! We also hope to take some of these workshops into the wider community, utlising the power of theatre to create informative content on important topics such as anxiety, depression and how to talk about mental health.

Honestly, all of this is extremely exciting and will make for a very busy second half of 2023. Are we nervous? Of course. Do we think we can do it? Of course. Why do we think we can do it? Because of all those people who have come to us asking that same question - "What's next?" - and just waiting for their chance to get involved. With that enthusiasm for creativity all around us, how could we ever doubt that we could create something so wonderful?
